Three Things We Learned From You

At Crop Convergence, we all spent time building algorithms for some of the biggest agriculture companies in the world. We saw our work applied to everything from research and development in plant breeding to supply chain management.

This work was rewarding, but also frustrating at times.
All of us started working in agriculture to make a difference. Anyone reading this knows there are far easier ways to earn a living!
Through our experiences working with those companies, we gained a unique view of agriculture and developed a drive to see our work help the people most integral to production – farmers, growers, and producers.
So we started this journey by spending many hours talking with farmers and others in the ag supply chain to understand what was working in farming data analytics and what wasn’t.
What we heard was that:
Yield prediction was useful but often did not have a direct return on investment for the average farmer. If they could not answer why those yields were higher or lower and how to repeat (or avoid) that outcome next time, the yield prediction had limited value.
The same thing from farmers that we had heard from seed and chemical companies – data is a valuable asset and contains key elements of a farm’s secret sauce. It is easier to trust an analytics company that doesn’t combine data across farms.
Farmers don’t need another software platform. Whenever possible, a new solution is easier to adopt and understand when they don’t have to learn a new software.
That's what led us to build a decision tool suite that looks beyond conventional ML/AI prediction to explainable ML/AI that can predict yield with a high accuracy and explain the how’s and why’s of performance.
Next, we figured out how to make the most of on-farm data and provide better analytics without combining datasets.
And finally, we began partnering with existing, well-established data collection platforms to make using our tools easier. We are excited to talk with you about how we can provide you or your customers with easy to use, cutting edge analytics.
